Tour Overview

This experience is designed for travelers who want a strong introduction to ancient Rome’s most important archaeological area.

With pre-reserved Colosseum entry, your group uses a dedicated entrance and enters after the required security check. Inside, your guide brings the amphitheater to life through stories of gladiators, spectators, social hierarchy, Roman engineering, wild animal hunts, and staged spectacles.

The route continues to Palatine Hill, traditionally connected with Rome’s founding, and the Roman Forum, where political, religious, and civic life unfolded. Together, these three sites give a clear picture of Rome’s power, daily life, and imperial legacy.

What You’ll Experience

Meet Near the Colosseum

Your tour begins near the Colosseum, where your guide introduces the ancient Roman entertainment district and the role the amphitheater played in public life.

Arrive early so the group can check in and enter on time.

Pre-Reserved Colosseum Entry

Pre-reserved entry means your group has an arranged access time for the Colosseum.

All visitors still pass through security, but the dedicated group entrance helps keep the experience organized.

Colosseum 1st and 2nd Tiers

Inside, your guide leads you through the Colosseum’s 2,000-year-old travertine tiers, explaining how the amphitheater was designed for crowd movement, visibility, and spectacle.

From the 1st and 2nd tiers, you can look across the arena and down toward the underground chambers below. Your guide explains seating structure, social rank, gladiator battles, and the range of events once staged here, including wild animal hunts and staged sea battles known as naumachia.

Some ancient celebrations connected to the Colosseum lasted for days, with major inaugural games traditionally described as lasting up to 100 days.

Palatine Hill

After the Colosseum, the route continues to Palatine Hill.

This legendary hill is traditionally associated with Romulus and the founding of Rome in 753 BC. Later, it became one of the city’s most prestigious residential areas, with massive imperial palaces and views across the surrounding ruins.

Roman Forum

The tour continues into the Roman Forum, the center of ancient Roman political, civic, and religious life.

Here, your guide leads you along the Via Sacra, the main road through the Forum, and explains how temples, arches, public spaces, and government buildings shaped the daily life of the city.

Julius Caesar and the Vestal Virgins

Within the Forum, you will see places tied to some of Rome’s most important stories.

Your guide may point out where Julius Caesar’s funeral changed Roman history and introduce the Temple of the Vestal Virgins, connected to the women who guarded Rome’s sacred flame.
